Meet Amanda MacDonald (RP)
Reaching out for support can be one of the most difficult steps to take. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, trauma, parenting concerns, or simply feeling overwhelmed, you don’t have to face it alone. My goal is to provide a space where you feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted—without judgment.
I believe that every person has unique strengths, resilience, and the capacity for growth. Therapy is not about “fixing” who you are; it’s about understanding your experiences, building on your existing strengths, and developing practical tools to help you move toward the life you want to live. I strive to create a collaborative, compassionate environment where you feel safe exploring life’s challenges at your own pace.
As a Registered Psychotherapist, I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families experiencing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, stress, trauma, relationship difficulties, ADHD, autism, self-esteem, grief, and life transitions. I tailor each session to the individual, recognizing that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy.
My work integrates evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based interventions, somatic approaches, play therapy techniques, and compassion-focused, trauma-informed care. Together, we will find the strategies that best fit your unique needs, goals, and personality.
Above all, I value authenticity and the therapeutic relationship. Research consistently shows that one of the strongest predictors of positive outcomes in therapy is the connection between therapist and client. I prioritize building a trusting relationship where you can feel comfortable being yourself, asking difficult questions, and exploring even the parts of your story that may feel hard to share.
Seeking therapy is an investment in yourself, and I consider it a privilege to walk alongside my clients as they navigate challenges, celebrate progress, and discover new possibilities for growth. Wherever you are in your journey, I look forward to meeting you and supporting you in creating meaningful and lasting change.
